Have you ever thought about the natural shape/set of your eyes? This information can be a very valuable part of your beauty routine helping you determine things like the best point of accentuation for your brows or a customized eyeshadow techniques that will really make your eyes pop. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to lash extensions, so you’ll want to work with your lash artist to create a one-of-a-kind look that’s perfect for you! Use our list below to help determine your eye shape.

  1. Round Eyes:  circular and (usually) big, round eyes are fairly common. A round eye shape is pretty versatile so the look will depend more on the set of your eye (i.e. deep set, close set, hooded etc.) iMakeup Tip: line the outer corners of your lower lash line with liner that starts in the outer corner and stops about half way (almost under your pupil) for a bright-eyed look.
  2. Deep Set Eyes: large and set deeper into the skull, deep set eyes will have a deep crease above the eyelid just as the name suggests. You will want to use longer lengths that come out and up creating a dramatic look. iMakeup Tip: use a highlighter under your natural brow arch to help create some separation between your brow and lashes.
  3. Hooded Lids: have a layer of skin that droops over the natural eyelid crease. You will want to draw the focus upward with longer lengths and a dramatic curl. iMakeup Tip: use darker shadow above your natural crease to draw attention upward that won’t get lost in the crease.
  4. Close Set Eyes: when the space between your eyes is less than the width of one eye. You will want to widen the face by starting with longer lashes in the center working your way to the corners drawing the attention outward. iMakeup Tip: use a light eye shadow or highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes to create a bright-eyed look that adds some space between eyes.
  5. Wide Set Eyes: when the space between your eyes is greater than the width of one eye. Create a narrowing effect by starting with long lengths in the center working your way to the inner corner by stepping down at least three sizes in length. iMakeup Tip: sweep a dark liner around your top and bottom lash line to draw attention inward. Stay away from cat eye looks.
  6. Down Turned Eyes: slight drooping in the outer corners and can be very sultry! A good candidate for cat eye looks, clients with down turned eyes need to stay away from lengthy extensions on the outside corners which can cause eyes to become heavy and droop even more. iMakeup Tip: use a bold liner on your upper lid pulling the end up and out to create an open-eyed look.
  7. Upturned Eyes: a very versatile eye shape! There are many looks you can create with upturned eyes but we suggest a gradual step down in length in the outer corners. iMakeup Tip: use liner along the outer corners of your lower lash line for a lifting effect.
  8. Protruding Eyes: eyes appear projected with plenty of space on your lids! Your lash artist will want to have good base placement on clients with protruding eyes to make sure longer lengths don’t interfere with glasses if they are too long. iMakeup Tip: use shadows to create smokey eyes that will help reduce the space on your lids.

Still not sure which look is right for you? Make an appointment with a lash artist in your area to determine a customized look that’s right for you and your lifestyle.
