An Open Letter From A Lash Artist: Please Take Our Advice!

Nov 16, 2017

Have you ever walked into a salon, showed your stylist a picture, and had her execute it perfectly only to realize the look is all wrong for your face shape? This is a fairly common problem in the beauty industry and one that lash artists face, too. We said it before and we’ll say it again, lash extensions are not a one-size-fits-all service! Forget about the Pinterest image you pinned and let your Lash Artist work her magic. Here’s why…

You don’t have to worry; we’ll be sure to give you an amazing look. This is our promise at iLash Charlotte. But first, you have to trust us when we say that longer is not always better. Even if J.Lo lashes are what you’re envisioning, that might not be what’s best for your eye shape or natural lashes. Your lash artist will be happy to work toward your desired look all while doing what’s best for YOU. Schedule a consultation to meet with your lash artists before the big day so you can have a better idea of what to expect.

With that being said, no two sets are the same which means we can give you a great look that IS made for your eye type. All of our sets are completely customized. Not everyone’s eye shape is made to support Kendall Jenner’s cat eyed lashes. Your eye shape may fare better with a ‘classic’ set which mimics your natural lash line. You may admire your favorite fashion bloggers bold lashes, but the volume of a ‘chic’ set can cause some eye lids to droop. Our lash artists are trained to pick a perfect set for your eye type, so you look less fake more fabulous.

Lastly, we wish you knew how important it is to clean and maintain that perfectly picked set. Yes, lash extensions are relatively low maintenance, but that doesn’t mean zero maintenance. You shouldn’t go longer than 2-3 weeks between fills and between those fills keeping your set clean is a must. Use an oil-free make-up remover to get any make-up around your eyes off. Then, use a gentle (oil-free) cleaner to wash your face. Lastly, gently comb through your lashes. That should keep your lashes healthy and flawless between fills.

Remember, all you have to do is lay back, relax and enjoy your lash nap. We’ll take care of the rest!
