Rookie vs. Veteran: What You Can Expect From Your Lash Artist

by | Apr 18, 2019 | Customers

We were all rookies at one point in time!

In fact, rookies are valuable members of any work community. When it comes to lashing, rookies (or new lash artists) bring a fresh outlook, enthusiasm, and more talent to the growing lash industry. We love welcoming new lash artists at Industry Lash Pro and look forward to watching them grow.

But, from a client’s standpoint, If you’ve been thinking about lash extensions, it’s likely you’ll shop around to compare artists. Even though there’s a lot to look out for in a lash artist, but it’s really important to understand the difference between booking with a new lash artist vs. an experienced one- here’s what you need to know …

New Lash Artists

A new lash artist is generally someone who has been lashing 1 year or less. Take a look at their portfolio and see their work and dedication. Is lashing a “side job” or career? Inquire about their qualifications and certifications before booking. There are plenty of great aspiring lash artists out there that might be able to cut you a deal on lashes as they work to build their portfolio.

Remember that in the lash industry, price comes with experience. A new lash artist shouldn’t be charging $250 for a full set and if they are…keep looking. Also, it’s important to keep in mind your expectations when hiring a new lash artist. The appointment might take longer, you might not get the fullness you desired etc.

Experienced Lash Artists

Experienced lash artists have been in the industry for years. But, what’s just as important as experience is their continuation of education. A lash artist who has been certified for 5 years but lashes once a month and hasn’t taken a refresher course is

NOT the same as a full-time lash artist who lashes every day has continued certifications and mentorships over time.

And, when it comes to pricing, you get what you pay for! An experienced lash artist will be able to deliver flawless, full sets than encompass advanced lashing techniques. You’ll notice the difference in results (and price).

There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to finding the right lash artist for YOU. It’s important to consider everything from your budget to the artist’s experience but only you can make the choice.
