Studies show that seasonal changes can affect your mood but did you know a shift in temperature can also affect the quality of your lash adhesive? It’s true! Even though you may enjoy the warm Summer heat, storing your adhesive in a hot, humid environment (or the opposite) could directly affect its ability to bond to your client’s natural lashes. Check out these tips that will help keep your adhesive in top condition in between use.
Store your lashes in an environment around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Extreme temperatures can weaken the components of the adhesive and cause it to breakdown. Never leave your adhesive in your car or near a direct source of light such as a windowsill.
Lash adhesives are made from different formulas but a general recommendation is to store your adhesive in an environment that yields around 50% humidity. High humidity means more moisture in the air which can cause the glue to become too thick and result in poor retention. We recommend using a Hygrometer which accurately measures the moisture content in the atmosphere. Pro tip: store your lash glue in rice to help keep the humidity levels in check.
Monitor your work space environment. There are many tools you can use to create the ideal lashing environment. Humidifiers, dehumidifiers and vaporizers can all help you regulate your work space air quality. They can also help you create a safe and comfortable environment for you and your clients.
Above all, keep your adhesive tightly sealed when it’s not being used. The key to good retention is finding an adhesive that you love (whether it’s fast or slow setting) and properly storing it. We recommend Lash Affair’s True Love adhesive, a quick-drying glue made for professional use.
