We just wrapped up our first Classic Lash training and we’re still coming down from the high! It’s such an amazing opportunity to educate and support aspiring lash artists. One of the things we try to do in our Industry Lash Pro trainings is give students the skills and knowledge they need to troubleshoot common lash problems. For example, it’s very common to have problems with your adhesive in the beginning. Sometimes it’s due to the adhesive itself and other times it’s something you are doing. Here’s what to do when your extensions just aren’t adhering properly…
For starters, make sure you understand the type of adhesive you are using. Remember, there is quick set and slow set. You’ll need to read over the label carefully to make sure you understand the dry time. Additionally, you’ll want to figure out the optimal temperature and humidity level for your adhesive. The lower the humidity, the longer it will take to cure.
It’s also important to make sure the adhesive is not expired. This could lead to more problems than just poor retention. Pro tip: don’t “stock up” on adhesive. There is such a thing as bad glue and once it goes bad, there’s no brining it back. Be very mindful of the expiration date- it’s not a suggestion! Above all, you need a hygrometer. Proper adhesive storage is essential to the quality of your lashes.
If you’ve tried all these tips, then it might be time to stop blaming the product and focus on improving your skill set. If you want to win the war on retention, it starts with a solid training. If you feel like you need to hit the restart button before the summer, send us a message about our private mentoring services. We’re happy to help with all of your lash questions and setbacks, even if they’re not retention related
