Do you remember when you first started to learn how to write? Holding the pencil correctly was a new skill set that took time and repetition to master. You probably don’t think much about picking up w pencil now because it’s likely second nature. This is exactly how experienced lash artists feel about tweezers.
Just like writing, proper grip and technique are a breeze! But, that wasn’t always the case. When you are starting out, holding your tweezers comfortably can be difficult. Here are a few tweezer tips to help get you started…
For starters, DO NOT skimp on quality! Saving some cash upfront on a discounted pair of tweezers will hurt you in the long run. Quality tweezers will be durable and flexible.
Why does it matter?
It’s simple. Proper isolation is an essential part of the lashing process. In order to have good isolation, you’ll want the right tools. Also, be sure to use the correct tweezers for the job (I.e volume vs. classic). More importantly, without proper training, even the best pair of tweezers can’t help!
This is why part of our Industry Lash Pro Training includes a section on how to properly hold your tweezers. You’ll want to hold them with a light and comfortable grip that allows you to isolation each lash individually. Above all- don’t hold them like you would a pencil! In other words, don’t tuck your middle finger under the tweezers. Check out our picture below for a visual. Want more great lash tips? Join us for our July training class!
