One of the must crucial steps in applying eyelash extensions happens even before you pick up a single lash. Step one of the process is to safely secure the bottom lash line. You’ll want to keep them covered as you work on the upper lashes so you don’t adhere the bottom and top lashes together. One scroll through Instagram and you’ll probably notice lash artists secure the bottom lashes in one of two ways, with tape or with gel pads.
Although both methods get the job done, we highly recommend gel pads over tape for a few reasons. Most importantly, gel pads are generally more comfortable for the client. They are much easier to move and they don’t risking ripping out bottom lashes during removal. You also won’t have redness or irritation from the tape adhesive.
Gel pads are also much easier to readjust to find the perfect fit. If you have to keep readjusting tape, you risk pulling on the bottom lashes and creating irritation on your client’s skin and lashes…not a good start for a 2 hour procedure! There are lots of great gel pads on the market that have skin-soothing benefits.
From sensitive to collagen-filled, gel pads are a great choice for avoiding complications and giving your clients the best experience possible. We recommend using Lash Affair’s BioGel Eye Pads.
