No Mascara on Lash Extensions

Mascara should never be used on lash extensions. If you are someone who wears lash extensions, it is important to be mindful of what products you are using on your lashes. Here are three reasons iLash Charlotte does not advise the use of mascara.

  1. It can cause the lashes to clump together and look unnatural.

Lash extensions are a semi-permanent way to enhance the look of your lashes. They are applied individually to each lash and can last up to several weeks with proper care. However, one of the most common mistakes people make is wearing mascara with lash extensions. Mascara can cause the lash extensions to clump together and look unnatural. We strongly urge you against using it. Not only will it ruin the look of your lash extensions, but it will also shorten their lifespan. If you want to keep your lash extensions looking their best, mascara is a definite no-no.

  1. It can get caked up on the lash line causing a build-up of bacteria that can lead to sties or infection.

If you’re sporting lash extensions, it’s best to stick to eye makeup that doesn’t require mascara. Your lashes will thank you! Bacteria on the lashes can lead to unattractive sites or even infections.  We urge you to keep your lash line clean. Ways to keep your lash line clean include using a lash brush to remove any build-up and using a clean pillowcase when sleeping.

  1. It can cause the lashes to fall out prematurely and damage the extensions.

There is nothing worse than spending your hard-earned money on your lashes only for them to fall out early due to the use of mascara.  Mascara can cause premature lash loss as it is a thick, heavy formula that weighs down the lashes.  In addition, the chemicals in it can damage and weaken the lash extensions, causing them to fall out way before their time.
