As lash artists, we build our careers around a retention service. Client after client, we create amazing lash looks that require 2-4 week maintenance appointments. In an industry based on retention, it’s also important that you use retention marketing strategies for your business. We’ve put together a list of retention marketing tips you can start today!
1. Stay connected. One of the easiest ways to grow your business is to not lose your customers! It seems like a simple concept, but many people get caught up in trying to find new customers/clients that they forget to maintain their current relationships. Stay connected with your loyals through a newsletter and be sure to keep your social media accounts current. Engage with followers online and use social media as an opportunity to connect. Marketing tip: send a monthly newsletter. The email marketing program Mail Chimp offers a free program for up to 2,000 subscribers. See more details here
2. Build relationships. Learn your customers by name and don’t treat them like a number. Use every appointment as an opportunity to make it their best lash experience ever! Some clients like to talk for two hours while others like to sleep. Get to know your clients and cater to their comfort! Marketing tip: create a birthday club and provide a small present to each client on their birthday to make them feel special because they are! You don’t have to break the bank. Give them a thoughtful card or even a $5 coffee card to let them know you value your relationship.
3. Go above and beyond. Customer service should always be a top priority and a crucial part of your marketing strategy. Woo your clients and they will stick with you! Be available to answer questions, comments and concerns regarding the lash extension process. If someone has a bad experience, work with them to turn it around. Sometimes you need to give up a little bit of your time to correct a look or remove lashes for someone. Remember that referrals can go a long way when it comes to growing your business.
Happy Lashing!
