Lash Mistakes You Didn’t Know You Were Making

Our eyelashes are fragile little hairs that serve many purposes. Not only do they help protect our eyes from irritants and debris, but they are also a staple in our beauty routines. We dress the up with mascara, clean them and brush them all to keep them healthy. Unfortunately, even in the quest to maintain a healthy lash tine (with or without extensions), there are many things we do everyday that actually harm our lashes. Check out these tips that will help you break your lash mistakes.

Tip 1: Be careful with that curler! Have you been using the same curler for months? Years? That mistake could cause bacteria to get in your eyes. Make sure to clean your curler and replace the pad every month or so. Also, clamping your lashes too hard can cause stress on your lashes, weakening them and causing premature fallout.

Tip 2: Stop using strip lashes. They can cause a lot of damage not only your lashes but to your eyes. Strip lashes are glued to the most sensitive part of the eyelid. The glue that comes with strip lashes often times contains harsh chemicals which can not only irritate eyes but also weaken your real lashes at their root. Taking strip lashes off can pull out your real lashes. On top of that, it’s hard to tell how your skin will react to lash glue. Allergic reactions are extremely common in strip lashes.

Tip 3: Don’t rub your eyes. Rubbing your eyes will only worsen irritation. Your hands have dirt and germs on them, even if you recently washed your hands. Not to mention, rubbing your eyes can pull your natural lashes out.

Tip 4: Don’t pump your mascara tube. Pumping introduces air into the tube, forcing bacteria to become stuck. The air that’s let in also dries your mascara out much faster making the solution flakey and crusty. Try twisting the wand instead of pumping.

There is a simple way to avoid alot of these mistakes…get a pair of lash extensions! You’ll forgo the need for mascara or curling wands and they’re much safer than strip lashes when done by a professional. Lash extensions are low maintenance, safe, and always worth it!
