Whoever invented the old saying “Beauty is Pain” was NOT referring to lash extensions! In fact, many people say that lash appointments are the new beauty naps. Though the process is completely painless, lash artists use items like tweezers, adhesive and tape which can leave some people wondering “what’s that for exactly?” To help ease your mind, we’re taking a look around the lash room to better explain common equipment and tools you might encounter during your appointment.
The bed. This one is probably pretty obvious but, during your lash appointment, you will lay comfortably in a spa bed with a blanket (optional) and a pillow. Not only does this optimize your comfort throughout the duration of your appointment, but it allows your lash artist to have a perfect view and full range of motion to create your customized lash look.
The roll pillow. This cylindrical pillow can be placed under your knees, ankles or back to help with your posture and blood flow during the appointment. Remember, you have to lay still for an hour or two so it’s important to make sure your body still receives proper circulation. The roll pillow can also help alleviate pressure on joints.
Tape/Pads. Before you get started, your lash artist will begin by securing your bottom lashes with tape or pads. This is a crucial step in the lash process because it keeps your bottom lashes safe from adhesive while applying gorgeous extensions to your upper lash line.
Tweezers. Applying lash extensions is a skillful and time consuming service. Your lash artist will use specially designed tweezers to apply your extensions one by one. This actually might be the only time tweezers do not cause pain during a beauty service.
The Light. Among the tranquil spa atmosphere, you might notice a big, bright light that your lash artist uses to apply your extensions. Since lash extensions are applied in such a delicate manner, your lash artist will need the help of a bright light (we recommend Glamcor) to apply your extensions.
Hygrometer. You may not notice this device during your appointment, but every lash artist should use a hygrometer to help measure the moisture content in the air. This particular device measures the humidity within the room which can help determine proper storage methods for lash adhesive.
Adhesive. Your lash artist will use an approved adhesive to apply your lash extensions (we recommend Lash Affair’s True Love) for long-lasting results.
