Best Face Forward; How To Wash Your Face With Lash Extensions

Aug 3, 2017

Stop stressing! Don’t believe the rumors, it’s OK to wash your face when you have eyelash extensions. In fact, washing your face actually keeps body oil from breaking down eyelash adhesive in the long run. However, there are a few tips you’ll want to keep in mind so you don’t disrupt your extensions…

1. Don’t get your lashes wet for 6 hours after application. The 6 hour rule only applies if your lash artist used a nano mister or nebulizer. If she didn’t cure your lashes, then you’ll need to wait 24 hours until getting them wet. The adhesive will need ample time to fully adhere to your natural lashes for better retention. Once properly adhered,  you can swim, shower, and sweat.

2. Never expose your lash extensions to running water. The direct pressure from your shower head can sometimes be too much for your extensions to handle. It’s best not to run water directly on your lashes at any point. Instead, use a gentle cloth to apply water to your face avoiding contact with your extensions. (see tip #3)

3. Wash with a bamboo cloth. We recommend EndureLash®’s organic makeup removal cloths. Made from organic bamboo, all you’ll need to remove your makeup is warm water so you can skip the harsh chemicals, makeup remover wipes and cotton balls that could affect your lashes.

4. Pat dry. This is an important step! EndureLash® also has an organic drying cloth that is hypoallergenic and safe to use around sensitive eyes and lash extensions. The unique weave of the cloth will prevent against shedding and snagging to help with better retention.

 5. Brush. Gently brush your lash extensions with a mascara wand- one that’s free of mascara. Brushing your lashes will help with better retention and fluff!

Another good way to properly wash your face is by using Lash Affair’s Eye Love Cleansing Brush and an approved lash cleanser like Lash Affair’s Chrissanthie Lid Cleanser. Remember, water-based formulas are essential.
