As a lash artist and trainer, I’m always happy to answer questions clients and students might have about lash extensions. As you know, there are a lot of different lash lengthening options out there on the market. It’s time to clear the air about cluster lashes! Here’s what they are, how they’re different from lash extensions and why you should never get them.
To start, cluster lashes are, essentially, pre-made (volume) fans that are adhered at the base. They are usually comprised of 4-7 lashes and are glued on, in many cases incorrectly, to your lash line. Aside from their heaviness, there are a few problems with closer lashes…
1. They are not customizable. They come in a package….glued together….the same fans…over and over again. At iLash Charlotte, we create our volume fans by hand and incorporate them into full, beautiful sets instead of just random clusters.
2. They are not applied to one lash. They are applied to the base of the lash line and often include MANY natural lashes which can lead to tangling lashes, crisscrossing, and further damage to your natural lashes.
3. They affect the natural lash growth cycle. Don’t forget, each of our lashes is on it’s own growth cycle. When a cluster is glued to multiple lashes, it disrupts the growth cycle and can cause patchy, damaged lashes.
If you are considering cluster lashes….don’t.
You’re better off sticking to a high quality pair of fake lash strips you can remove each night. If you really want to make the commitment to lush, full lashes, make an appointment! We can give you a great set of volume lashes full of custom fans that won’t damage your natural lashes.
