Eyelash Extensions vs. Eyelash Lifts: What’s the Difference?

by | Aug 17, 2017 | Lash Education

Eyelash extensions and eyelash lifts are both great ways to transform your lashes and add some ease to your beauty routine. Both methods are HOT on the beauty scene however, there are some big differences between the two. The idea of lash perms and curling have been around for a while, but lash lifting and extensions are relatively new. Wondering which one is right for you? Here’s what you need to know.

Eyelash extensions take about two hours (for an initial appointment) and are absolutely painless. You lie down with your eyes closed and one-by-one, a certified lash professional attaches an extension to each of your natural lashes. You’ll then have follow up instructions like how long to avoid water, excessive sweat, oils etc. Lash extensions are a great way for you to get a gorgeous lash line effortlessly!

With eyelash tinting and lifting, you’ll start in a similar way by laying back with your eyes closed- both procedures are relaxing! The process starts by cleansing your lashes and placing the rod on your upper eyelid. Once the silicone rod is in place, your lash artist will apply a small amount adhesive to help your lashes curl. Soon after, lotion will be applied and process for 5-10 minutes then gently removed. Finally a setting lotion will be applied and the setting rods will be removed to reveal beautiful, natural lashes!

Wondering which one should you choose? Well, extensions have the drama — think thick, bold lashes, that can still pass for your own. With extensions you don’t typically need any eye make-up and you certainly don’t need mascara. With eyelash tinting and lifting, your natural lashes are curled and slightly darkened, but they’re still your own and no lashes are added. You still have a no-make up, make-up look just without as much drama. You may want to add some eye make-up when going out or dressing up.

Still not sure which one is right for you? We can help! We offer both procedures are iLash Charlotte and are always available to talk about which lash treatment is best for you. Regardless of what you choose, your whole face will look brighter and fresher effortlessly!
