Recently we received an inquiry asking if our adhesive contained formaldehyde. This is a common question and one worth dedicating a blog post to! We always encourage people to do their research and we love spreading our lash knowledge so here it goes….
Let’s start with a simple fact to put your mind at ease, formaldehyde is NOT an ingredient used in any of our lash adhesives. In fact, formaldehyde is actually a gas that forms over time as an adhesive is exposed to air. There are strict standards in place for lash adhesives on the market.
The adhesives we use at iLashCharlotte are made with many of the same ingredients as medical-grade adhesives. It is our goal to provide quality lashes time after time so we follow all recommendations when it comes to adhesive storage and shelf life. Keep in mind that a completely “formaldehyde-free” cyanoacrylate does not exist because, as we said before, formaldehyde is a gas that occurs naturally over time. However, there are things lash artists can do to help ensure adhesive quality.
We recommend storing your adhesive at around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Never store your adhesive in direct light. Extreme temperatures will degrade the quality and safety of the adhesive. Use a Hygrometer to monitor the moisture in the air to keep humidity levels around 50 percent. Did you know you can actually store adhesive in rice to help keep humidity levels in check?
There’s a lot to learn when it comes to lash adhesives and safety which is why we always encourage finding a licensed lash professional that meets your states requirements. Look for a certified Lash Affair artist near your to ensure quality results.
