Let me start with this very important tip to all aspiring lash & beauty industry entrepreneurs out there… you are going to have to run a business!
If you’re jumping into the lash game as an entrepreneur, then you have to be ready to market your brand. This is sometimes a challenge to do especially when starting out. You’re probably working on perfecting your skills, building a client list, and a million other things that come along with the gig. But I can save you a lot of time (and money) by understanding the basics of SEO and how it can help grow your brand.
Tip 1: Have A Website
This one is probably obvious but it’s essential. The good news is that you don’t have to spend thousands or custom code a website yourself (yikes!). All you need is some basic website building platform (try Wix, SquareSpace etc.) where you can host a blog, provide information about your services, and allow people to book.
If you’d like to spend a little more on your website, you can always shop around for a local web company who can take the website task off of your plate. We love our web team at iLash Charlotte! Another part of being a successful entrepreneur is knowing how to delegate tasks in order to take things off of your plate that aren’t necessarily a strength. Bottom line- have a nice website!
Tip 2: Have A Good Meta Description
One of the most important SEO tips that a lot of people overlook is having a well-crafted meta description. The meta description is the first section that people see when Google cues up your page to search users. Make your meta description unique and don’t just repeat your blog title…really try to engage users in your content.
Tip 3: Utilize Social Media
Remember that your website is the digital backbone of your business. It’s the first impression before people even get through your doors. Social media pages are great, but make sure you are using them correctly. You want to drive users to your website and track this traffic to do advanced marketing with pixels and such.
Tip 4: Get Google Reviews
Any 5-star review is great, but ask clients to review your on Google to help improve your organic (unpaid) SEO ranking. Follow up after each appointment by texting/emailing your clients a direct link to your Google review page to make it simple.
Tip 5: Domain Name
Above all, focus on your domain name (notice how my website is both ilashcharlotte and eyelashcharlotte?) That’s capitalizing what people are searching for (eyelashes) as opposed to my brand name (iLash). Therefore, my domain name helps me cash in on active users.
Understanding the basics of SEO can really help take your business to the TOP of the search page! If you’re willing to spend a little money to get to the top, try running some Good AdWords campaigns for faster results. Questions? Just Ask!
