As a lash artist, there are few things I preach more than proper lash aftercare for my clients. This is why I’m dedicated to educating my clients on the dos and don’ts of at-home care. It’s true that you should not ever pick or play with your lash extensions, but that’s different than touching them to keep them clean.
The truth is, improper lash care can lead to actual medical issues like Blepharitis. This sometimes chronic condition occurs when you don’t properly clean your eyelash extensions. It happens when dirt, debris, or particles block an eyelash follicle and cause inflammation as well as possible infection.
At iLash Charlotte, we send each new client home with proper aftercare instructions on
cleansing to avoid conditions like Blepharitis which can become a chronic condition. Though inflammation is usually one of the first signs, you should also be on the lookout for the following symptoms of Blepharitis:
• Burning
• White flaking
• Swollen eyes
• Itchiness
• Redness
The good news is Blepharitis can be avoided in many cases! It’s important to continue to educate yourself under the guidance of an experienced professional so you truly understand the importance of things like quality aftercare.
