In the digital world, the Internet offers us a variety of convenient options to make our lives easier. Online education is also emerging with affordable options that work with your schedule. But sometimes, even in this world of digital connection, hands-on learning is essential.
Here are a few things to consider…
Course Quality
If you earn a certificate from a program with no accreditation or reputation, you can find yourself with a worthless piece of paper that will leave you in debt and no better prepared for lashing. Do your homework. Read reviews and look into the work of past graduates.
Lack of Hands-On Training
While this may seem obvious, students have a tendency to underestimate the impact of never meeting the instructor and other students in the course. There’s so much value in hands-on learning and details that are easily missed in
a digital course.
Can’t Get Quality Answers
This is a HUGE disadvantage! You can probably submit a question in an online course but you might not get an answer that will really enhance your skills. One of the biggest benefits of hands-on training is your instructor can really show you instead of just telling you. She might see an error in your technique, placement, or grip that an online course instructor would likely not be able to pick up.
These are just a few downsides of online certification but the list goes on and on. Above all, remember that lashing is NOT an online service, so don’t waste your money on online training!
